About “The Unknown Soldier”

During the 50s – 60s, protesting against the Vietnam war was prominent (Which also led to the hippie sub culture). This mostly was against the brutal killings and massacres against Vietnam. Troops gossiped about the thrill they got from murdering others to the newly drafted. People were also mad at the state of the government. Prominently: The promises that were broken and the unresolved aftermath of the great depression Much of the government money was spent onto funding the war, just to spread their greedy communist ideas into Asia. Which many American citizens were against, especially the history of racism and slavery. Many people were done with how the presidents were treating this. This song, especially, is a good example of the protests.Expand
